How my Younique business changed my life

image of not caring what others thinkNever once did the thought of owning my own business ever cross my mind… That was absolutely not the kind of girl I was. Owning my own business? I’m so sure…

Adulting. Not feeling adequate. Wondering if you’re living a fulfilled life or if there is more out there. So many questions…

Falling short is something that we all struggle with from time to time, so it’s really important to realize how far we have come and how much we have grown. As adults we are always trying to be better in all that we do, whether it’s with our children, our spouse, our work, our friends, and more. Whether there is enough time in the day to get everything done or not, I’ve realized just how important it is to praise myself on the things I’m doing to be a better me.

Let me back up a bit first…

You know, I never wanted to work. I know that sounds bad, and I don’t mean for it to, but I’ve always seen myself as a mom. Perhaps that’s because my mom was home with me growing up and that’s what I was used to. But yeah, working was not something on my radar. Or, I should say, being a corporate business woman was not on my radar. It has just never felt like me. (For all of you that have seen Romy & Michelle’s High School Reunion, I’m totally thinking and picturing the “business women’s lunch” scene right now.)

Fast-forward to where I’m at now and you couldn’t have paid me all the money in the world to believe that I would be running my own multi-million dollar makeup and skincare business. Like WHAT?! Me? The girl that thought she was content to just stay at home and play with a toddler? Ha! (Seriously though, I do feel so blessed to have been and continue to be a stay at home mom. That’s still at my core for what is super important to me.)

But to me, it’s different than I imagined. It’s not stuffy; it’s fun. It’s not lonely; it’s social.  It’s not a competition; it’s uplifting women around the world. It’s not something where there’s room at the top for just one; there’s room for us all up there. Most importantly, it’s being a cheerleader (which I was in my younger years so it seems fitting) to a bunch of really awesome women. It’s, quite honestly, the best “job” I could have and it’s the most perfect one for me. It encompasses all of the things I enjoy into this amazing business where I can share, make money, and have friends all over the world.

Perhaps one of the coolest things about owning my own business is seeing how I’ve grown in all aspects of life. There’s so many positive changes that have happened and I wanted to share a few with you.

Because maybe you feel stuck. Maybe you could use some adult interaction (being a stay at home mom surprisingly didn’t fulfill me like I thought it would). Maybe you want to set goals and smash them. Maybe you want another purpose, a bigger purpose than you could accomplish on your own. Maybe you want to have some extra money. Maybe you are awesome at social media. Maybe you are a makeup artist and want to show off your talents. Maybe you have no idea about makeup, but want to learn. Maybe you are social and could rock the hell out of this. Whoever you are, I know that we all want more. I know we want to live life. To be happy. To enjoy the things we want to do.

So I am here to tell you that there can be more and you should go after your dreams because life truly is way too short to spend not doing something that you want to do.

My business has helped me grow and blossom into someone completely different (good different though) in the past four years. I’ve made mistakes along the way, but I’ve learned from them. And the best part? This is just the beginning. Oh yes, just the beginning.

How Younique Changed Me:

💕 It’s going from someone that used to care so much about what others thought to being in this place of accepting myself & not giving others (& their opinions) that power.
💕It’s putting myself out there in a vulnerable way that is sometimes really scary.
💕It’s truly becoming comfortable with the uncomfortable & taking chances.
💕It’s making mistakes time & time again & learning from each one.
💕It’s trying to be the best damn role model for my son.
💕It’s owning my story, even though it may be different from others.
💕It’s believing in myself.
💕It’s setting goals & not backing down from what I know I can achieve.
💕It’s striving to live in this positive place where I 100% believe there is a silver lining in everything.
💕It’s sometimes faking it because I’m not quite there.
💕It’s hustling because I know that nothing comes without hard work. Greatness & success is something that you work for every day.
💕It’s knowing that no one is going to give me a gold star. It’s entirely up to me to show up & to be proud.
💕It’s being humble & living in a place of gratitude.
💕It’s knowing that even though I wander, it doesn’t mean I’m lost.
💕It’s not being scared to stand out.
💕It’s being okay with knowing there will be detours on this journey & that those detours just might be the coolest things that ever happen to me.
💕It’s comparing myself to me & only me.
💕It’s being in a competition with myself to do better than I previously did.
💕It’s to keep moving. To stay hungry. To never become stagnant because then I know I’m not growing. And without growth, there is no change.
💕It’s being confident & knowing how that makes me feel.
💕It’s making life fun, whatever that looks like, & dreaming big. Always.

To sum it up, I took a chance on myself. Are you ready to do that too? If so, I would love to talk to you about joining Younique and working closely with you to help you get to where you want to go.
