What Do You Want In Life Without Settling For Things You Don’t?

What goals do you want to accomplish in your life?It’s been a few days now since I’ve been on my 30 day challenge and I’ve been thinking about what it is that I want in my life. My goals. My plans. My call to action.

Like many people, I can tell you all of the things that I do not want in my life. I don’t want mediocrity. I don’t want a dirty house. I don’t want to be indecisive. I don’t want to feel like I’m constantly rushing around to get things done. I don’t want to have to worry about paying the bills. And on and on. We can all come up with the “do not want” list, right?

But in order to go in the direction that we want, we need to come up with the other part of the equation: What we DO want in our life. We need a plan so that we don’t settle for what we don’t want. We need a direction so that we can focus on the positives in our life.

And this is difficult.

Typically we don’t always let ourselves go there. It’s a lot easier to focus on the things we don’t want than to allow ourselves to think about the things that we do want. Whether it’s because we are afraid to let ourselves dream and then be let down if it doesn’t happen, or whether we just don’t know what it is that we want exactly, we still need to try. If we don’t try to figure it out, we will always settle… and no one wants to just settle in life.

We are all capable of knowing what we want in our lives, but we have to get out of our own way. We have to be present in our daily life. We have to notice the things that make our hearts smile. The things that make us happy and feel fulfilled on a daily basis. We have to give ourselves permission to take control of our lives so that we get everything we want.

And I’m not talking about things like pizza. Sure, pizza makes me happy when I eat it. It’s yummy and it’s something that gets delivered so that I don’t have to cook. But, if I allow myself to eat pizza it won’t make me happy because I will gain weight and have a lot of health problems. Make sense? You have to play it out in your head so that it makes sense.

So, what do we do?

We need to have a plan. We need to make a list of everything that we want in life without settling for things we don’t.

For me, I want a clean house. I want everything in its place. How do I do this? I do a little laundry every day and put things back where they go when I’m finished with them.

I want to have time for me so I wake up earlier than everyone in my house so that I can have my quiet time.

I want happiness in all areas of my life so I only do the things that make me happy. Again, pizza is good, but after the instant gratification wears off, it doesn’t make me really happy. And the extra weight isn’t good either.

I want to have a lot of money saved so I started my Younique business. I consciously do things every single day to enroll more presenters, sell more makeup, and form new relationships with people. This goes along with happiness too. I genuinely feel happy knowing that I’m helping change people’s lives. It’s a good feeling!

Give yourself permission to think about what you want and play it out in your head. Have a plan. Make a decision and know what you want. Don’t settle. Take action. Most importantly, be happy!
