When I first joined Younique, my sponsor said something along the lines of “be prepared to work just about for free for the first 4-6 months”. Now, not to sound arrogant, but I figured she had to be talking to everyone else because that couldn’t be true for me. I was going to knock my Younique business off its socks right from the get go.
I was going to make a name for myself right away and advance through levels. After all, Younique is the first company that I’ve ever wanted to join and succeed in. Yep, she had to be talking to everyone except me.
Well, fast-forward and it’s been about 6 months that I’ve been in Younique. I’ve personally sponsored 24 people. I talk to people every single day and am constantly building a funnel of people to talk to in the future because maybe the timing isn’t right for them right now.
And guess what? I just advanced to the level pink. Finally. Pink!! Yay! Go me!
I admit, I thought it would be easier. I just thought everyone would fall in love with Younique, like I did, and that they would want to become a part of it. And that’s been true with a lot of people. My family and friends have really supported me and I couldn’t be more thankful for that.
But I thought it would be faster. I admit there were days 5 months ago when I was discouraged, but I kept at it. I kept contacting people about having parties and did what I could to get my name out. I kept posting on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter because I’m not one to give up. And you know what? That’s the key. That’s what makes the leaders out there. It’s the ones that just keep going without giving up.
Success doesn’t come overnight, despite how awesome that would be. You have to stick with it and keep making forward progress, even during the times when it seems like nothing is working or when it gets tough. It’s a journey and while I know there’s a long way to go, I’m enjoying every minute of it. You better believe I’m thrilled when Payquicker notifies me that another $7.25 got deposited into my account (after only 3 hours of a sale of the 3D fiber lashes!).
While I’m not where I want to be with Younique just yet, I’m excited about how things are picking up. Remember, I started this business without having any direct selling experience. Without a team to move over from another company. Just little ole me. And now I have people growing their own Younique businesses on my team, which is amazing. I’m working with such great women and have made so many new friends because of Younique. I’m so excited to work this business daily because I never know who I’ll meet or what I will learn.
My Younique Business Is Now Growing Every Single Day
It’s different now than it was in the beginning. Now I get contacted daily, whether it’s to purchase product or to join my team. Just today I woke up to 3 sales… and then I had another one and then someone started a party on my Younique site and then someone joined my team. It’s been an awesome day!
It’s hard for me to celebrate the little victories, like achieving pink, only because I so badly want more. I see it in myself and I know I can do it. But I’ve learned that it takes time and patience is a virtue, right?
You know when you hear people say that it takes a person an average of seeing something seven times before they buy? Totally true. I roll with it now, knowing that. But the most important thing is that I don’t give up. I keep at it every single day and you’ll see my name out there one day being at the top of Younique. I’ve never been so sure of anything before.
And you know why I want it so much?
Because there are a lot of families out there struggling right now. I want to help them pay a bill, a car note, their mortgage, or even to retire their significant other… and to do all of this by selling makeup! How crazy is that! I want to take my son on an amazing vacation. I want to help rescue all of the poor little animals that just want love. I want to never have to worry about money again. There are so many reasons why I want it so much.
My Introduction To Personal Development
Years ago my husband introduced me to the world of personal development. Before I met him, I didn’t know that whole world even existed. I was brought up to go to college, get a degree, and work a traditional job. When I met my husband and saw that he worked from home a few hours a day, I didn’t know what was going on. But I knew I liked it. A lot.
Personal development plays a key role in succeeding in any business, especially a home-based one because of the focus and sacrifice it requires. We’ve seen so many big personal development speakers at conferences, had dinners with them, and are even friends with a few. It’s totally worth it. Immerse yourself in personal development. Read books on direct sales, motivation, and personal development in general. Listen to podcasts about health, fitness, your mindset, etc.
You need to work harder on yourself than you do your business in order to make your business grow.
I’m so excited to see where my business will be 6 months from now. It just keeps on growing every day and I have so many big plans for myself and for my team. I’m working on a new training area for all of the people on my team to help build their businesses. I want it to be a one-stop shop where my team members can go to find before and after pictures of the 3D Fiber Lash Mascara.
A place where they can go to send new people they just enrolled to find out what to do next. To get more ideas on how to expand their business. On how to host a virtual party. How to market on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest. How to ask people to host virtual parties for them. What to do when they feel discouraged. A place where people can find support and answers to obstacles they face. A positive community that they are thrilled to be apart of.
I can’t wait. And I hope you’ll join me on this journey. It’s an amazing one, that’s for sure!
