Remember back in September how I posted about how awesome Younique’s liquid foundation is, but that it was because my skin decided to break out with bumps all over and I needed some additional coverage? Well, I am so excited to provide an update about that little problem that is no more!
It seems like the older we get, the more we have to “work” at our skin. I remember how good I had it back in high school. One of my best friends and I would totally brag about how clear and glow-y our skin was without even having to wash our faces. Oh to be young (and naïve) again, right?! There was no trial and error period of trying to figure out why there were bumps on my face and what in the world was causing them.
Just to recap, there was a brief (although it felt like anything but brief) 8-month period where my face broke out this past year. (You can read about it here.) I’m not sure what was going on. At one point I was convinced that I had some kind of a food allergy and although I never got tested for that, I’m pretty sure that it was all in my head. The reason I thought I might have had a food allergy was because it was more rash-like than it was pimple-like. I tried to narrow it down to see if it coincided with my awesome (insert sarcasm here) time of the month, but sadly, it did not. To make a long story short, I think I’ve figured it out (knock on wood).
Dun. Dun. Dun.
I think I was washing my face too much. True story, even though it sounds cray-cray.
During this time I would wash my face in the morning and at night. Now, I hear you… You may be thinking, “That’s what you’re supposed to do, Kristin”. Ah yes, most people can do that and get away with it, but not this girl. I have the most sensitive skin in the world and clearly that skincare regimen was not working for me. Ironically enough, the more bumps/pimples I got, the more I would wash my face. Actually scrub my face because I was determined to get rid of them. I did more masks. I was trying anything and everything to get rid of it.
So, what did I do different? Here’s my
skincare routine for clear skin.
When I wake up in the morning I do not wash my face. In fact, I just use water. I splash cold water on my face and move onto the next step. I squirt two sprays of Royalty Rose Water Toning Spritz on my face and rub it in all over. Next, I use our Royalty Hydrating Day Cream and rub it in all over my face and neck. If I am going to put on makeup, I will wait for a few minutes and then put our Touch Glorious Face Primer on my face. Once it dries, it’s makeup time!
When I get ready for bed, I change it up from my morning skincare routine. I use Royalty Shine Cleansing Cloths to remove my makeup and get all the yucky off from the day. Then sometimes I just go to bed. Gasp! Other times, about 3-4 times per week, I will wash my face with our Royalty Pore Purifying Cleanser. After my face is all clean, I spray rosewater on it, rub it in, and then put on our Royalty Time Correcting Night Cream before calling it a night.
I really think that I was cleaning my face too much, if that’s even possible. I like to do an exfoliating mask (more on this to come soon) once a week, along with a detoxifying mask (more on this, too) another night during the week. I do space them out and look forward to them. Younique’s products are so great and have helped my skin become brighter and to stay clear. This magic combo has provided me with 4-months (full months, y’all) of clear skin and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
What is your skincare regimen like in the morning and at night? I’d love for you to drop a comment and let me know!
